Major Free Prosthetic Limb fitting camp held in Coimbatore

A significant free prosthetic limb fitting camp was organised by Narayan Seva Sansthan, a Udaipur-based organisation active in India, Africa, and other countries. This camp aimed to benefit differently-abled individuals by providing them with free artificial limbs. The camp was held in Coimbatore and marked the first such event in Tamil Nadu.

A total of 638 differently-abled individuals received free artificial limbs during this camp. Participants included people from various districts of Tamil Nadu such as Coimbatore, Erode, Salem, Madurai, and Trichy, as well as from the states of Karnataka and Kerala. An initial camp was held last April in Coimbatore to take measurements for prosthetic limbs and callipers for more than a thousand disabled individuals.

The camp's inauguration was attended by several notable figures, including Prashanth Agarwal, President of Narayan Seva Sansthan; Gopal Maheshwari, President of Maheshwari Sangh; Santosh Mundada, Secretary of Maheshwari Bhawan; Gautam Sri Mall, President of Rajasthani Sangh; and social activists Kamal Kishor Agarwal, Venkatesh, Atal Jaiswal, Spokesperson Bhagwan Prasad Gaur, Prasad Ladda, and Iswarya Trivedi.

Over 50 medical teams set up separate halls in Maheshwari Bhavan to train differently-abled individuals on fitting artificial arms and legs. In one day, 210 lower limbs, 198 upper limbs, 130 multiple limbs, and 110 callipers were installed. The camp enabled 638 Divyangs (differently-abled individuals) to walk again, many of whom had lost their limbs in accidents years ago. This brought immense joy to the beneficiaries and their families, who saw their loved ones regain mobility and independence.

President Prashant Agarwal expressed his satisfaction with the camp's success, noting the smiles on the faces of those who were able to walk independently after receiving the prosthetic limbs. The event showcased the impact of community efforts in transforming the lives of differently-abled individuals.
