CPO of the Week:  Mohamed Arshad from Kerala, India

Graduated with a bachelor’s degree in prosthetics and orthotics from Christian Medical College Vellore in 2017.

What is your greatest patient story in O&P?

I cherish a memory about an eight year old congenital trastibial amputee patient , I am really happy and proud that I could change his life with an artificial limb from his young age to this moment .

What do you claim is your speciality - your O&P passion?

I really enjoyed establishing the workshop when I moved to Dr Moopens Medical College where I established a fully fledged P&O lab under physical medicine and rehabilitation department.

What do you like most about practising O&P?

I am a good team player with good management skills and prosthetic and orthotics knowledge . I am grateful for the degree that I hold because I could change many people’s lives with this profession.

What frustrates you about O&P?
Occasionally I feel sad when a patient can’t afford a prosthetic and orthotics device just because there is a financial crisis.

How do you build rapport with patients in your care?
I am an active listener which always helped me to get closer with my clients.
